Join us on Saturday, July 18, at 8:30 a.m. on the Mark Twain playground for coffee, morning treats, and plenty of playtime. We can't wait to welcome our newest Tigers and their families!

New Parent Orientation

New to Twain? Join the Mark Twain administration team for an informative evening as you prepare for the upcoming school year. Learn about academic programs and school traditions, meet your PTO leadership, discover volunteer opportunities, and explore the many ways to get involved in the Mark Twain community.

Meet The Teacher

Kick off the 2026–2027 school year by meeting your teacher and reconnecting with the Mark Twain community! Several dessert trucks will be on site with sweet treats available for purchase while families visit and connect. To help with parking and crowd flow, we encourage (but do not require) families with last names A–L to attend from 4:30–5:15 p.m. and families with last names M–Z to attend from 5:15–6:00 p.m.

Grade Level Kona Ice Parties

Reconnect with old friends, meet new ones, and celebrate the start of the school year at our Grade Level Kona Ice Parties on the Mark Twain playground! Each student will receive a complimentary Kona Ice, courtesy of the PTO, and additional Kona Ice will be available for purchase. Join us at your grade level's scheduled time for a fun afternoon of treats, play, and community.

12:00 p.m. – 2nd Grade
3:00 p.m. – 3rd Grade
4:30 p.m. – 4th Grade

School is back in session! The first bell rings at 7:20 a.m., and the school day begins at 7:30 a.m. After dropping off your students, join us by the flagpole for coffee as we celebrate the start of an exciting new school year and welcome everyone back to Mark Twain!

Parent Engagement Event - Lunch at Local Foods

Are you new to Twain, or have you been here for a little while and are ready to get more involved? Join us for a casual lunch from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. at Local Foods in Rice Village. Meet members of the PTO Board, connect with other Twain families, and learn about the many ways to get involved in our school community. We'd love to see you there!

Parent Engagement Event - Coffee at Betsy's

Start your Wednesday morning with us at Evelyn's Park! Grab a coffee, smoothie, or a delicious breakfast taco from Betsy's and join fellow Twain parents for a casual morning of conversation and connection from 8:30–10:00 a.m. Whether you're new to Twain or a familiar face, we'd love to see you there!

Parent Engagement Event - Happy Hour at Dish Society

Wrap up the back-to-school season with us at our final parent engagement event! Join us for happy hour and light bites at neighborhood favorite and proud Mark Twain sponsor, Dish Society. Whether you prefer a cocktail, fresh-pressed juice, or sparkling water, we'd love to see you starting at 5:00 p.m. for a relaxed evening of conversation and community.

General PTO Meeting 

Help us celebrate the end of the first week of school at our first PTO meeting of the year! Join us for Coffee and Conversation beginning at 7:30 a.m. in the cafeteria, followed by the meeting at 7:45 a.m. Learn about the capital improvements completed over the summer, hear about exciting events and opportunities planned for the year, and get an introduction to our Twain Tigers World Tour theme. We look forward to seeing you there!
